Youth

bobik-high-resOptimist Clubs are dedicated to “Bringing Out the Best in Kids” and do their part through community service programs. The Downtown Optimist Club has been committed to that single objective since 1941. Today, the DTOC continues their support of children in their endeavors during all those years whether their chosen activity was team sports, educational, or safety related.

We have built baseball fields (Pancake Field), run and supported Little League Baseball programs, developed and managed the Junior Golf Program, assisted Boys & Girls Club of Meridian, established and fully funded The Bill Herndon Scholarship fund at Meridian Community College, sponsored teams to support the Hull Memorial Golf Tournament, supported the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program and the Meridian Shop-With-A-Cop program, and the Boy Scouts.

Not satisfied with that, we continue to support any activity promotes the development of children into productive citizens of our community. We’ve helped kids go to Little League tournaments, Cheerleading Tournaments and many more team sports. For the DTOC, we are truly “Friends Of Youth!”
