Recently, the members of the Downtown Optimist Club were introduced to eight high school students from Northeast Lauderdale High School who had competed on a State and District level in marketing competitions sponsored by the Future Business Leaders of America. These eight students earned the right to compete on a National level at the 2016 National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, GA in June, 2016.

The 2016 National Leadership Conference (NLC) will draw thousands of future business leaders to Atlanta, Georgia to compete in leadership events, share successes, and learn new ideas about shaping their careers through workshops and exhibits. This four-day conference is considered the pinnacle of the FBLA-PBL experience, especially for those running for national office.

On Tuesday, May 10, 2016, the members of the DTOC invited these students back to receive a check for $1000 to help defray the expenses of their trip and encourage the students in their efforts. This is a dream opportunity according to them and their teacher, Keely Solloway. We hope to have the students come and tell us of their trip and their experiences in Atlanta once they return home!
