DTOC Supports MS Scholars Program – 2016

DTOC President Daniel Stewart presents a check for $1,000 to Tyler Walton to support the efforts of the EMBDC Mississippi Scholars program

Mississippi Scholars is a state program developed by the Mississippi Economic Council that partners with public education in Mississippi.  The goal is to encourage and motivate all high school students to complete a defined, rigorous academic course of study that prepares them for successful transition to college, university coursework or vocational and technical training necessary to enter today’s competitive job market.

Each student recognized receives a medallion, a certificate and a small scholarship that they can use toward college. The stated goal is to increase both the number of students recognized in Lauderdale County, and by doing so, encourage educational excellence in students in our community.
