Who
We Are:
The Downtown Optimist Club of Meridian,
Mississippi was founded in 1941 as a local chapter of Optimist
International. Members of the DTOC are local business leaders who have
dedicated themselves to improving their community by providing a helping
hand to the youth of our community.
Over the years, the DTOC has assisted
many Meridian youth programs ranging from Little League baseball, Boys
& Girls Club, Boy Scouts of America, and more recently by sponsoring
Junior Golf.
Our members are active in the community
and are always on the look-out for new ways we can assist youth in
whatever they are trying to achieve.

DTOC Fundraisers:
The DTOC depends upon a single way to
raise funds to support all of the programs we support in the Meridian
area. That fundraiser is our annual Pancake Jubilee. Each year on a day
in February from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m., we feed over 2,000 people
all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage with all the fixings! It has been
estimated that during that day we will cook over 10,000 pancakes and
around 80 cases of sausage. Gallons of butter and syrup will be poured,
and thousands of cartons of milk and cans of Coca Cola will wash
it all down! All for $4.00 per person. The Annual Pancake Jubilee has
been a Meridian staple for over 55 years!
You can be a Member Too!
To become a
member, visit one of our
meetings and meet our members and express your interest in joining. An
application for membership will be provided to you at that time.
